Engage Yourself in Podcasting

By being able to create a podcast / radio news package, I was able to learn how much time and effort is needed to produce a two-minute script. The package structure included an opening; brief news headlines, 30-second commercial; sports scores; weather updates; and a closing.

Jonier Gutierrez is currently a senior Marketing major with a minor in Visual Communication Design minor at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. He is currently a building manager at the University Center on campus. Seasonally, Gutierrez also works as a care provider for a child with special needs. Previously, he staffed the front desk for Executive Towers, a condominium complex in downtown Phoenix. Gutierrez is a mentor in the Greehey School of Business mentor program (GSB), the Faculty Mentor Program (FAM) and a member of American Marketing Association (AMA). Previously, Gutierrez was the Fundraising and Oyster Bake Chair officer for AMA. Gutierrez’s achievements include making the Dean’s List in Fall 2018 and Spring 2019. At St. Mary’s, he has received several scholarships including the Madeleine Scholarship, Viyao Scholarship and Robert S. Rosow Scholarship. Gutierrez will graduate in May 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Marketing. His career goals are to acquire a job that he can utilize the skills learned, while constantly learning more from his employers.
